The smallest member of the ground crew was Saylor. Her job was to put the ear mark in the bucket. Each calf's left ear was cut along with a brand on the left hip to show ownership. The ear marks are put in a bucket and counted at the end of the day.

Rusty branding and the some of the ground crew.
We also save the "oysters" and cook them up later for dinner.
Each calf is stretched out by two ropers and is only down for a few seconds, then they are released and run back to mom.
Sage gave shots in the neck just under the skin.
Justin and Jasper threw calves.
Jeffrey roped.
I took pictures and brought lunch.
For lunch we had: French onion sandwiches, parmesan potato rounds, coleslaw, and rhubarb cake.
