Sights and Sounds at the Ranch

Over the past few days Jeff has been shipping his cattle out to go to the winter range. It is quite a sight to see the trucks lined up and hear the cattle loaded into the trucks. We started out with good weather last week, but Monday it wasn't too favorable. I took these pictures last Friday.

LOVE the scenery at your ranch! Have you checked out pioneer woman blog?- (can't remember if that is the correct name)- Anyways, you both have some similarities- homeschooling and ranch living.

We're down in Phoenix to say our last goodbyes to Joel's mother who is losing her battle with cancer. It's enjoyable to visit family, but I am so glad we don't live in a big city like this. Laying in bed last night we heard 5 gunshots too close by for comfort. We couldn't think of any good reason somebody should be shooting at that time of night in the city- not likely they were shooting pesky critters like racoons or coyotes. So we just got up and double checked that all the doors and windows were locked and remembered again how lucky we are not to live in the city.
